Today I picked up this book with the intention of reading a few chapters, but before I knew it I was almost half way through the book. So intriguing and well written that I was unable to prise myself from the book until I had read every word within. I lost myself in this book, not just with the plot but with the scenery, Cooke does an amazing job of writing the locations in this book that makes the reader feel like they are actually there. 

The book unfolds mainly from two points of view, Eloise and Lochlan's, with the occasional chapter from Gerda and Magnus who are Eloise's grandparents, and we get a few snippets from Eloise's childhood. In Lochlan's chapters we see the devastation left behind in Eloise's absence, In Eloise's chapters we experience her amnesia, and her growing unease with the people who find her on the beach. As the story progresses and relationships become clearer its easier to see how Eloise ended up on that beach and why she has no memory of the life she left behind.

This is the first time I have read anything bu Cooke, but it wont be my last.
